The Children & Nature Network (C&NN) was created to encourage and support the people and organizations working to reconnect children with nature. C&NN provides access to the latest news and research in the field and a peer-to-peer network of researchers and individuals, educators and organizations dedicated to children’s health and well-being.
The Bay Nature Institute, based in Berkeley, California, is dedicated to educating the people of the San Francisco Bay Area about, and celebrating the beauty of, the surrounding natural world. The website has a lot of resources including upcoming events, organizations, and articles, among others.
The Bay Area Discovery Museum is a one-of-a-kind indoor/outdoor family museum in Sausalito that offers a full range of activities for children ages 8 and younger. The Museum’s unique programs feature hands-on art and science exhibits, performances, workshops, and cultural festivals and even toddlers will have fun and learn here.
Cotati Creek Critters’ vision is to see Cotati’s reach of the Laguna de Santa Rosa become a green corridor of habitat for native and migratory birds, pond turtles, frogs, butterflies and dragonflies, as well as an urban greenway with its walkways and bicycle path. They offer a variety of educational events and host creek stewardship days.
Leaping Lizard Exotic Animal Rescue is a non-profit tax exempt animal rescue that specializes in exotic reptiles and birds, but they have never turned away from any animal in need. If they can’t care for an animal they will always work diligently to find someone who can.
